A machine polisher working across dark paint under inspection lighting

Paint Correction & Detailing

EVERY SWIRL,
REMOVED.

Machine polishing that removes swirls and wash marks rather than filling them. The step that decides how everything applied afterwards will look.

Overview

The step
nobody sees.

Correction is the least visible and most important part of what we do. Film and coatings are transparent, so they broadcast whatever sits beneath them. Getting the paint right first is what separates a good install from a spectacular one.

  • Paint depth measured before any machine touches the car
  • Defects removed by cutting, never hidden with fillers
  • Coastal salt and iron fallout chemically dissolved
  • Finished under inspection lighting, not daylight guesswork
  • Photographed before and after so you can see what changed

FAQ

Paint Correction questions

What is paint correction?

Paint correction is the machine polishing of clear coat to physically remove swirl marks, wash scratches, etching and oxidation. A small amount of clear coat is levelled so the surface becomes flat and reflects light cleanly. Unlike a glaze or filler, the defect is gone rather than temporarily concealed.

Do I need paint correction before a ceramic coating?

In almost every case, yes. A coating is transparent and seals the paint underneath it for years, so any swirl present at application stays visible until the coating is removed. Correcting first is the difference between a protected good finish and a protected poor one.

How much does paint correction cost?

A stage 1 machine polish is included as standard in our £425 five-year ceramic coating package, so most customers never pay for it separately. Standalone correction and heavier multi-stage work is quoted after we have seen the car, because paint condition and hardness vary far more than photographs suggest.

Why does living near the coast matter for my paint?

Salt-laden air accelerates iron fallout bonding to paint and attacks any exposed metal at chips and stone strikes. Cars kept in Eastbourne, Seaford and along the seafront benefit from more frequent decontamination than inland cars of the same age.
